Heather Mills will leave UK after divorce from Sir Paul

Heather Mills' father has predicted she will leave Britain after her divorce from Sir Paul McCartney.

"I think she'll go abroad and then just slowly fade away into obscurity," said Mark Mills in an interview quoted by the Press Association news agency.

The McCartneys are reported to be close to reaching a settlement in their divorce hearing, which is entering its third day at the High Court in London.

The financial settlement could break records, it has been suggested.

Sir Paul has a fortune estimated at £825m. Based on recent cases, divorce experts have suggested that Ms Mills could walk away with £60m.

The record currently rests with the £48m businessman John Charman was told to pay his former wife last year.

But the figures and details of the McCartneys' settlement may never be known to the outside world.

The hearing is taking place behind closed doors and the courtroom's windows have been blacked out. Any financial settlement will not be made public unless the case goes to the Court of Appeal.

Several press reports suggest High Court judge Mr Justice Bennett has warned the couple that leaking details of the case to the media could be in contempt of court and punishable with heavy fines.

Ms Mills' father said he thought she would move to France or the US with the couple's four-year-old daughter Beatrice after the court case ended.

"She won't stay in this country. She knows everybody hates her and she does not care," he said.

"I think she's very low at the moment and would leap at the chance to get away from it all and take her daughter Bea with her."

Ms Mills, who lost part of a leg in a road accident in 1993, married Sir Paul in June 2002, four years after his first wife, Linda, died of breast cancer.

The couple announced the end of their marriage in 2006.
