LONDON (AFP) - Troubled British soul singer Amy Winehouse was discharged Tuesday after spending a night in hospital because of a reaction to medication, its spokeswoman said.
Winehouse, 24, spent a "comfortable" night at University College Hospital in central London after being rushed to its accident and emergency unit in an ambulance just after 8:40 pm (1940 GMT) Monday.
The Grammy-award-winning "Back To Black" star, who is battling drug and alcohol problems, has suffered a string of health scares since apparently being caught smoking crack cocaine in footage obtained by the Sun newspaper in January.
The following month she spent time in rehab and in June she collapsed at home before being diagnosed with lung condition emphysema.
Her husband Blake Fielder-Civil was jailed for 27 months earlier this month after he admitted attacking a pub landlord and perverting the course of justice.
Winehouses father, London taxi driver Mitch, said earlier this month he feared she could die "a very slow and painful death" if she did not stay on the straight and narrow.
But he indicated that her hospital admission was not a cause for concern.
Asked by reporters Monday whether his daughters condition was serious, he held up a bag of Kentucky Fried Chicken he was taking into the hospital and said: "This is how serious it is."
Winehouse appeared at a concert for former South African president Nelson Mandelas 90th birthday in London in June and sparked more controversy at the Glastonbury festival shortly afterwards by apparently lashing out at a fan.
