LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Tween star Miley Cyrus, who plays Hannah Montana in the hit TV series of the same name, will co-host and perform at country musics CMT Awards in Nashville on April 14 with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, organizers said on Tuesday.
The announcement came as a coup for cable channel CMT, whose fan-based awards show is now in its seventh year. Cyrus, 15, is one of the hottest draws in the entertainment business, with a sold-out tour and recent No. 1 movie to her credit.
Billy Ray Cyrus, famed for the hit 1992 single "Achy Breaky Heart," co-stars with his daughter in "Hannah Montana." The Disney Channel series revolves a girl who lives a typical teenage life by day but has a secret singing career on weekends.
Miley Cyrus is writing material for a studio album due out later this year and will soon begin production on "The Hannah Montana Movie" followed by the taping of the third season of the "Hannah Montana" TV series.
