Hayden Panettiere goes to great lengths to hide, calls going out ?a nightmare?

18 year-old Heroes star Hayden Panettiere will appear in the upcoming film "Fireflies in The Garden" with Julia Roberts. She has what could be a new interview with the Sunday Mirror, but they don't say they actually talked to her and it could be one of those pieced together stories where they just take bits and pieces of things she's said to other outlets, rephrase them slightly, and slap up a story and hope no one will notice.

Hayden supposedly said that she doesn't go out, that she hides from the paparazzi, and that she finds living in LA and dealing with the "business very intrusive."

‘I don’t ever go out,’ she says, of her life in Hollywood, where she drives everywhere to avoid being recognised on the street. ‘I stay at home. I go from garage to garage, and keep myself out of sight.’ The 18-year-old, who has been catapulted into the A-list since taking on the role of cheerleader Claire Bennet in the top-rated US drama, admits she finds being famous ‘a pain in the ass’.

‘I love where I live and that I have wonderful friends there and I love what I do, but it really has a major impact on your life. This business is very intrusive. People want to know what you’re doing every day, and it becomes less about your craft and your art, and your love for acting, than it is about when you put food in your mouth, or when you’re walking your dog

‘The interesting thing to me is, if you think about it, the glamour of Hollywood has been dimmed down by people that don’t necessarily love what they do or their craft,’ she says. ‘I think people who are mainly in the public eye and deal with this [attention], a lot of them like it and enjoy it. I don’t really enjoy going out, it’s a nightmare in my opinion.’

I don't want to knock Hayden, because I have a high opinion of her after she did drop out of the spotlight and started pursuing her own interests like animal protection and activism. But a year ago she really bugged the shit out of me, because it was like she was everywhere. In fact she was out at practically every event, she went to Koi and Mr. Chow regularly, and she was even rumored to have been calling the paps herself to alert them to her whereabouts.

She may not be a hypocrite by saying that it all bugs her now, and it really does seem like she matured and realized that being an attention whore was not productive or rewarding for her. You have to give the girl credit for evolving and growing as a person, unlike some other obvious drunken attention-seeking examples. But maybe Hayden should have a little more perspective on the way that fame and those same events and photographers helped her before she trash talks the way they invade her life now.

Hayden Panettiere is shown at the Humane Society Genesis Awards, where she was presented with an award for her activism, on 4/2/08, thanks to Splash News.
