World Premiere Dance Play Will 'Scoot' Into Ithaca (Playbill)

Choreographer and KTC artistic director Rachel Lampert teams up with composer Sally Lamb to conjure a magical land where sleeping princesses, tango dancers and bumbling servants tell their stories to two travelers looking for a place to spend the night.

The cast of dancers ranges from nine-year-old Erin Hilgartner to seasoned professional Stephen Nunley, and also includes Meredith Conroy, Charlie Forray, Clint Hromsco, Chunmei McKernan, John X. Miller, Sarah Olsen, James Potter, Ofer Ravid, and Erin Rieger.

The live music ensemble is comprised of Christopher Morgan Loy (piano), Ryan Allen-Parrot (cello), Adam Butalewicz (clarinet), and Lesley Greene (flute).

Costumes are by Hannah Kochman and lighting by Emily Zoss.

Lampert is a playwright, director and choreographer. She has authored many original Family Fare productions, including Emmett & Ellas Big Apple Escapade, The Mozart Mystery, Winter Tales and more. She is a four-time recipient of NEA Choreography Fellowships. Her grown-up musicals have played KTC, as well.

Composer Sally Lambs works have been performed by the Ariadne String Quartet, Cornell University Wind Ensemble, Ithaca College Wind Ensemble, Eastman Wind Orchestra, the Society for New Music, Cayuga Vocal Ensemble, North/South Consonance, the June in Buffalo festival and at the National Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. She was awarded the 2001 Charles Ives Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and has received awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts, Meet-the-Composer, and ASCAP.

The Kitchen Theatre Company is located at 116 N. Cayuga Street in Ithaca. Show times are 1 PM and 3 PM Saturdays and 1 PM Sundays. Tickets are $14 for adults and $7 for students, and are available by calling (607) 273-4497 or visiting www.kitchentheatre.org.
