Amy Winehouse's performance over the weekend at Bestival on the Isle of Wight was typically less than satisfying for concert-goers, who booed the 24 year-old singer. She went on 40 minutes late and only played for 35 minutes, cutting "Valerie" before the song was through and telling her band to switch to "Rehab." The sound was too low, which wasn't Amy's fault, but she put on a pretty poor performance as usual. The crowd was unimpressed, but it was raining and muddy and they weren't in a good mood anyway.
Amy requested a whopping 48 bottles of Jack Daniels in her concert rider for the show, but she still supplemented her liquid diet with other booze. She was said to have consumed a bottle of vodka for breakfast the morning after her bad show, after which she had to be carried out from the hotel to her car in a duvet, which is like a comforter. Amy might have stayed a little longer and slept it off, but hotel management kicked her party out after they caused almost $10,000 worth of damage to the hotel.
The singer went on a booze binge until 5am after she ordered 48 bottles of Jack Daniel's whiskey for her gig at Bestival, reports The Sun. For breakfast the next morning, she downed a bottle of vodka. She was then wrapped up in a duvet and carried out of the Wellington Hotel on a minder's shoulder after she was kicked out by hotel managers.
A source said: “Amy was a total mess. She couldn't manage to walk to the car so they had to wrap her in a duvet.”
The hotel claims she and her drunken friends burned furniture with cigarette butts and covered carpets with booze, causing £5,000 worth of damage. Her entire entourage was banned from the hotel for destroying the room and shouting at staff and guests.
Just a regular night out for Amy Winehouse, then! Prior to last weekend's trademark boozing and shambolic performance, her father Mitch said the festival would be her last show until she recovered from her drug and drinking problems.

The Bestival gig was said to be Amy's last of 2008, and I hope that something changes for her fast or she may face the same fate as a lot of other talented musicians who left us before their time. As it is, she seemed beyond help months ago. What is there to say about Amy? You never know what will happen for her and maybe if she applies her stubborn will to getting sober she'll be back stronger than ever. At this point though she's a cautionary tale.
