Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx star in The Soloist, a film based on a true story about an LA Times journalist who befriended a homeless schizophrenic man who also happened to have attended the prestigious Juilliard school of music. Journalist Steve Lopez wrote several columns about his troubled friend, Nathaniel Ayers, and published the book The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music in April of this year. The story is so compelling that it was made into a screenplay and production was started on the film before the book was released. The Soloist will be out in the US on November 21, just in time for Oscar season. Judging from the trailer it's likely to be nominated in several categories. It looks like an incredible mix of a highly watchable and meaningful film and I know I'm looking forward to seeing it.
